Who we are
Moxie Volleyball Kalamazoo is dedicated to providing youth with accessible, affordable and high quality volleyball programs that serve to transform student athletes and inspire a future generation.
Moxie was founded in 2014 by Kalamazoo native, Marta Lehman. After surveying the volleyball scene in Kalamazoo, Lehman saw a need for a different type of youth volleyball club. A club where athletes felt valued and families felt welcome and weren't turned away because of an inability to pay. Moxie Volleyball open's our court to all student athletes regardless of household income. We work with families to come up with individual payment plans, offer financial aid as needed, and award a limited number of scholarships each season.
Lehman holds a B.A. in Broadcasting and Cable Production from Western Michigan University and earned her M.A. in Sport Management in 2013 from W.M.U as well. Lehman graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1999 where she was a three year varsity volleyball letter winner. Thanks to academic and athletic scholarships, she attended La Salle University in Philadelphia from 1999-2001.
In addition to her work directing Moxie Volleyball and coaching our Mini Moxie and Moxie Junior programs, Marta serves as the Parent Liaison for the Kalamazoo County Great Start Collaborative. In her down time she enjoys being with her family and spending time outdoors.
